Aeterna Voices 

Initial ideas involved the consideration of what imagery would be involved. Draped cloth would be appropriate regarding the subject of the album title.

Some key phrases which inspired the artistic impression:

'the heavens' embroidered cloths'

'gold and silver light'

'blue', 'cloths'

'night and light and the half light'

'only my dreams'

'you tread on my treams'

Other imagery was considered that held a personal link to the vocal group. This digital sketch is the Parish Church of All Saints, where the octet would rehearse in Leamington Spa.

A collage of images bearing connotations of 'cloths of heaven'. Sunlight, the parish church drawings in various colours, folds in a light fabric, bubbles under water, ice on a window, looking at different textures and forms of natural elements -water and light. 

I used chalk pastels on sugar paper to depict a golden atmosphere, and then creased the paper to create a textured surface like fine cloth. The juxtaposition of soft tones against the tangible creases creates tension at the forefront, simultaneously giving the impression of a recessive sky whilst drawing the eye to the fine linear properties on the surface.

This is a manipulated photo, made to look blurred. The original picture is a section of a painting in acrylics. 

Experimenting with different backgrounds, and colours to compliment blue and gold.

The 'gold and silver', the 'blue' cloths, 'tread on my dreams'... with the phrase 'half light' taken as a dusk and dawn impression.

The chalk pastel impression of golden sunlight, with the creased surface evokes connotations of cloth and the sky. 

The circular shape gives way to more contemplation, like an unusual depiction of the moon, giving way to a dreamy atmosphere. 

The delicate portrayal captures a tangible impression of sunlight and in a way, the 'Cloths of Heaven' -the title of the choral album. The overall composition is a sublime depiction of dawn, analagous with the beginning of Aeterna Voices.
